Webtoon-ish Weekly
November 29th, 2025.
I thought I’d resurrect the weekly post format for three recent updates that are worth looking at based on their relevancy to the current market.
The three stories I’ll be going over are:
Kidari Studio launches a digital BL K-Pop group of their strongest IPs along with a merch bundle at home and abroad.
The creator of True Beauty has won a case with the Korean National Tax Service netting her a VAT refund in the hundreds of millions of KRW.
HYBE releases Dark Moon: Two Moons in six languages and gives us an opportunity to compare viewcounts across English, Spanish, Indonesian, and Thai.
Kidari Studio Merges BL with K-Pop (sadly, no demon hunting)
Kidari Studio launched a new digital boyband featuring their biggest BL IPs in Korea called SPAKLZ with a single, “COMET”, on Thursday this past week. An accopanying music video was released on Youtube that’s proven popular internationally, but mostly in Korea.
In addition to the single and music video, Kidari Studio also released a 2026 Season’s Greetings merch pack featuring a mini-cd, keyring, banner, photocards, posters and membership card for 99.99 USD. Interestingly, the price in Korea is 80,000 KRW with a current discount of 20,000 KRW bringing the final price down to 60,000 KRW. Even with the difference in shipping costs and exchange rate, that’s quite a gap.
